“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” -Mahatma Gandhi
The Independence Center offers programs and services for people with disabilities, working with individuals, families, and communities. This fantastic organization serves those with disabilities of all types in 17 counties surrounding Colorado Springs, Colorado. Recently they formed a partnership with UCHealth Memorial Hospital, Colorado Springs to create the Hospital to Home program, this new program reduces healthcare costs and ensures that people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to leave the hospital due to things like unfit living conditions or lack of access to food have what they need to go home safely. This is just one of many ways the Independence Center supports the community. For example, they also offer the Art of Accessibility where local artists with disabilities can exhibit their artwork at the center during events open to the public.
Teal Heath is honored to serve on The Independence Center Board of Directors.
